Patience is a Virtue. Cucumbers of Provision.

Patience is a Virtue. Cucumbers of Provision.

Happy Monday my faithful friends!

As I was reflecting in my garden this past week, pondering and watching for some of the growth. I found myself beginning to get extremely anxious and questioning why my four-cucumber plant had only birthed two cucumbers so far this year yet my other plants have been harvesting in their glory just fine.

As I turned my back on the garden with a sigh and a bit of a shun in my spirit….  I heard that still small voice say to me: “Cydney, patience is a virtue. God will bring forth what he promises. I am faithful to complete what I start.”

Now I am not sure about you, but patience is a fruit of the spirit that I seem to keep having to go through the test with exercising.

I then began to ponder in my imagination about this cucumber plant. I had an indescribable vision of my extravagant, swirly, abundant plant growing in its glory up to the sky like a Jack in the beanstalk busting with multitudes of cucumbers of provision for me. I saw cucumbers long and curvy, ripe and long dangling from the plants. So many of these baskets could be filled up to feed the neighborhood. My imagination then took me into a realm where I began dreaming of all of the lovely cucumber salad with fresh dill, oh and then heaps of cucumber sandwiches stacked up (my high tea ladies with me :), oh and then the jars of pickles that were to be made on the overflow… sweet pickles and then dills…oh what a delight my spirit went into, a place of a pickle cucumber encounter and overflow!

Then I turned back to my actual reality and saw this very naked plant, large and curling around my stakes. Yet no fruit on it yet!

God, why can't it hurry up? My tastebuds are dancing with anticipation. And I am still waiting.

Have you ever had to wait on something that you don’t understand why?
Sometimes I think I have been waiting too long for some things.

But the things my cucumber escape reminded me about was…waiting.

  1.  You must have patience with faith. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised”. Well this right here is a promise. I have faith. That is easy, but faith and patience are two essential virtues that go hand in hand. The significance of patience in one's faith must express patience while waiting for the promised blessings to manifest. Instead, rely on faith, show patience and keep  trust in God. HE WILL BRING ME A CUCUMBER BUFFET on these plants one day soon. I must keep the deep connection between faith and patience and encourage believers to hold onto both virtues together.
  2. I must have passionate patience in love. "For love is patient." If it was not for my encounter of faith with my bursting cucumber plant birthing a magnitude of fruit, the passion in my heart for a cucumber smorgasbord my passion began to overflow with all of the things I could do with the cucumbers! In the waiting we need to stay passionate.Oh passionate patience.
  3.   I must pray with faith! Speak it out as if its already here! God bring me my cucumbers please? No God you will bring me the harvest!  Practice patience in prayer. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God”. I recognize I need to tap into the source. The big King upstairs and pressed in with the words in my heart to craft a prayer and speak life over these plants. Even if I have to beg him. The conversation will spark life.

So I leave you with this. What are you waiting for? Is there something you need a spark in your faith, a splash of love and a revival in your passion to be patient about?
I hope you all have a great week. Be patient, but expectant!

Comment below, what are you waiting for?  You all encourage ME so much!
