There once was a cardinal named Carl. I began seeing him once every other day. Then he would appear once a day in odd places so that I could see him. Once even on my car rear view window. . If birds could have crushes on women, I know this was one. One morning I was sitting having coffee in my living room and there he appeared outside my window sitting on the tree gazing in on me and my inside living room. He had a fluffy parched out chest and such stately hair. He batted his eyes and tilted his head towards me. His gaze pierced in at me until then he decided to fly right in my window as if he could come right through the window. Well smack it was, and he slobbered the window and bounced back on the tree. He tried time and time again to fly right in, he would fall, fail and make what a fool of himself. Oh Mr. Carl. Well… this happened for days until finally I had to go clean the window and wipe off the bird slobber and drool from his many attempts to win me over. Well one day l finally one day I decided to just open the window and let him in so he could sit on my tropical plant inside the living room. And he did just that. He came right in sat with me and what a time we had. He sang and fluttered his wings. Some days I would leave him a pinecone dipped in peanut butter and seed. What a feast he had. He could not get very far in the house. But every morning I would open the window and just welcome him in and I would get to delight in his glorious presence watching this magnificent character of hope and perseverance that definitely won me over. It made things easier just having him in the home and I did not have to clean my window anymore. I think about Carl the Cardinal. What perseverance he had. Hope. Determination to not give up. He broke through to a place of the unknown. My living room. His persistence to appear time and time again as a messenger of hope to me. It broke down my boundaries of the normal. Some may call me crazy. But I recognized through Carl the Cardinal, God was sending me a messenger to keep pressing onward. Not to give up. It did not make sense and neighbours, and family could call me crazy. I had this radical adventure and trust with Carl the cardinal. To have a front row view of his stately beauty and be there with me in this season of early morning coffee and natures bliss. I now look back and recognize God had sent me a messenger of hope, love and honor that he would make time for me and not give up on his mission to win me over. Carl was and is the messenger of hope. The messenger of good news. A very miracle of deliverance in my living room every morning. God speaks in magnificent ways that we ca feel his nearness. Sometimes it requires us breaking free of old ways, what other people think and just listen to the beauty that surrounds us. God is speaking in every moment in majestic wonder so that me know know the goodness of his love.
