The Provincial flower of Newfoundland is the purple pitcher plant. St. John's is the Capital of Newfoundland. It was discovered on St. John the Baptist day June 24, 1497 by John Cabot, Giovanni Caboto. This beautiful place and precious part of our East coast Canada is very special. The most beautiful part about Newfoundland is the people. The heart of hospitality and kindness you will find no where else in Canada.
